Ducati company was founded in 1926 in Bologna.
In 1985, Cagiva, another Italian motorcycle manufacturer, absorbed Ducati, while preserving the brand that had already become quite famous (though after hesitating).
In 1998, the company was bought by the American investment firm Texas Pacific Group (now TPG Capital), after which Ducati Motor Holding SpA appeared in 1999.
By 2005, Ducati became Italian again - now the brand belongs to Performance Motorcycles SpA. And starting in April 2012, it is bought by the German Audi.
Today, Ducati motorcycles are not just famous - they are legendary. The company produces them several tens of thousands a year and they are all sold, while still in the assembly process.
